V EDITION OF AMARANTE INTERNATIONAL GUITAR FESTIVAL

From June 30 to July 8, Amarante hosted the IV Festival / International Guitar Competition of Amarante, an event organized by the Amarante Cultural Center – Maria Amélia Laranjeira, with the support of the City Hall.

Marco Tamayo, Gabriel Bianco, Pedro Rodrigues, the Laureates of the III Festival / International Guitar Competition of Amarante, Joaquim Simões and João Robim, Concerts and Masterclasses, a Contest with several categories, the Conference “1918 – Amarante and the World” and Stage of Guitars, with the students of the Conservatory of Music of Vale do Sousa, completed the poster of the IV edition.

This edition also had some news! The guitarist Pedro Rodrigues played in a world premiere a work of a young Portuguese composer and the Concert of the great winner of the Competition of the third edition, Joaquim Simões, took place in the city of Oporto, in the Carmo Church.

Andrés Madariaga, the 31-year-old Chilean who is currently studying in Salzburg, Austria, was the big winner of Category F of the IV Competition! Winner of the First Place in the F category, took home a check for 5000 euros and will open the fifth edition of the Festival.

The success of this initiative is highlighted by the president of the Amarante Cultural Center, Francisco Laranjeira, as the main ambition for the consolidation of the Festival, affirming and reinforcing, at each edition, the value of classical guitar in the Amaranth community and in the Portuguese guitar community.
