Joaquim Simões was the big winner of the category F in the 3rd Amarante International Guitar Festival and Competition. The young Portuguese who studies in Germany with Joaquín Clerch took home the 5000 euros prize. The second place went to the Polish Jerzy Chwastyk and the third place went to the Italian Marco Musso. In the category E, the Portuguese João Robim won the first prize.
“Another festival comes to an end and once again it has finished with the feeling that our mission has been accomplished. For us, this third edition has represented the affirmation of the event”, said in conclusion the president of the CCA- Maria Amélia Laranjeira Cultural Centre. As in previous editions, the festival’s organisation assures to be working on the following edition: “the main appeal of this festival, besides the undeniable names in the guitar scene, is obviously the first prize amount”, said Francisco Laranjeira.
Tito Silva, the artistic director of the festival since the first edition, it’s already thinking “in the stars of the next edition, always with the promise of surprising the public, without disregard the pedagogical dimension of the event, with masterclasses and workshops”.
“The success of this Festival is owe to the CCA, the organiser, but also to all the support and all the partners, particularly the support of the Amarante City Hall that since the very beginning said yes to our challenge!” concluded Francisco Laranjeira.
From the 1st until the 10th September, Amarante has been the stage of the 3rd Amarante Guitar Festival and Competition. 10 days | 8 international renowned guitarists | 100 participants (both national and foreign) | prizes in the amount of 12 thousand euros |
